Ludwigia inclinata is an attractive, fast growing plant that originates in Central and South America and may be found growing within marshes to waters with a rapid current. Ludwigia inclinata's leaves range in color from lime-green to violet and red.

Ludwigia inclinata's coloration depends on the amount of light and nutrients it receives; if this species does not get enough nutrients and light, its colors will become less vibrant and will fade. Some of the different verticillate varieties of Ludwigia inclinata are Ludwigia 'Pantanal', Ludwigia 'Cuba', and Ludwigia 'Araguaia'. The verticillate varieties tend to have narrow and more numerous leaves.

The Ludwigia inclinata species requires high lighting of 3 to 5 watts per gallon from full spectrum (5000-7000K) bulbs. Regular CO2 injection, lean nitrate levels, high phosphate levels, and heavy dosing with iron and trace elements, will help Ludwigia inclinata produce vibrant coloration and health.

For propagation, simply cut a healthy stem and replant it into the substrate. "Topping" this plant and leaving the rooted portions in the substrate promotes very bushy growth as the plant will produce numerous side shoots. After cutting, remove the leaves from the last node on the freshly clipped stem to insure proper root growth when replanting.
